Being collected
The evening starts at your own accommodation rather than at a meeting point you have to find. Pickup and drop-off run from Funchal, Caniço or Câmara de Lobos — not from Funchal Port — with the hotel list confirmed at checkout.
Arriving at the table
You arrive at the restaurant as part of the pickup rather than making your own way there, sit down, and the first thing to reach the table is a glass of Madeira wine, before the soup does.
The meal itself
Three courses follow in sequence: tomato soup with bolo do caco, then espetada with fries, vegetables, salad and milho frito as the main. Wine, beer and soft drinks are kept topped up through all of it rather than rationed by the glass.
The entertainment
Once plates start clearing, the night's performance begins — a Madeiran folk group or a fado concert, both live rather than recorded.
Dessert and the way home
Dessert is a choice between coffee mousse and a fresh fruit salad, rounded off with coffee and a digestive Madeiran liqueur, before the same pickup loop runs back through the zones to return each table to its hotel.
